Mr. Dale S. Ter Haar
Trustee

What is it about the Trust that keeps you motivated to be a Trustee?
The ability to support a diverse group of people in need is a great motivator. I have always had a desire to help others and the Trust makes this easy to do. That we create events to do it is just the icing on the cake.
What is your proudest moment in relation to the Trust or as a Trustee?
I am very proud of us continuing my grandmother’s charitable legacy almost 20 years after she passed away. I think we are viewed as one of the best run NGOs in Botswana and that we manage to raise our funds through our own events allows to be self sufficient in our sustainability. Our prudence in holding some capital reserves will also allow to ride out and survive the COVID-19 pandemic.
What do you think is the biggest potential for the Trust?
Our ability to meaningfully and positively impact people’s lives in a lasting manner has to be where our biggest potential lies. Be that giving a vulnerable family electricity for the first time or helping young children who have poor eye sight to see better or helping a disabled child sit in enough comfort that they can attend school are all examples of how we currently do this. If we can grow these efforts and introduce others then this is delivering on our potential.
